Blood Type and Longevity: Can Your Genes Determine If You Live to 100?
We all know the pillars of a long life: a balanced diet, regular exercise, and strong social connections. But a growing body of scientific research is exploring a fascinating factor that is completely out of our control: our blood type. This is the intriguing topic hinted at by the viral post shown in image_2.png, which asks if your blood group is a predictor of centenarian status.

The connection between blood type (the ABO gene system) and various diseases is well-established. For instance, people with non-O blood types are at a slightly higher risk of cardiovascular issues, while blood type O has been linked to a slightly reduced risk of certain cancers. Longevity, however, is a complex trait influenced by thousands of genes.
Current research on the specific link between blood type and extreme longevity is still evolving. Some studies suggest that the relative absence of certain age-related disease risk factors in specific blood types might correlate with a slightly higher chance of reaching extreme old age, but it is not a direct “longevity gene.”
